Virginia Tech Homecoming

Kesal Patel

Why do you feel you are qualified to serve on the Virginia Tech Homecoming Court and your goals if you are selected Homecoming Queen or King?

“I left after my freshman year.  I didn’t come back. I went to home for a semester with the intention of transferring. But that was it. For a semester. I couldn’t stay away any longer.

I thought VT was something I could leave behind; something I could do without. I was wrong. I couldn’t live without the Hokie spirit. The very thing that drew me to Virginia Tech had pulled me back. The words “Once a Hokie, always a Hokie,” finally resonated with me. I came back in the spring of 2007 reenergized. I joined Student Government, I took leadership in the fraternity, and I wanted to be the best Hokie I could be.

My goals? Simply put, to show the student body that here, at Virginia Tech, there’s a place for everyone. You can find your niche here, and once you do, you can watch it grow. I did that very thing and now, I couldn’t be happier. Graduating in the spring, I couldn’t think of a better way to spread this message then serving on the 2008 Homecoming Court and hopefully being selected Homecoming King.”
